IMANews – Shawwal 5th, 1439 AH – June 19, 2018 Update

As salaamu alaikum

Inshallah everyone had a joyful Eid with friends and family.

Here is the Outreach section that did not make our last e-mail.

On May 1st, 2018, The City of Kirkland passed a gun safety resolution. Now, the City of Kirkland wants to hear from residents, business owners, and organizations on what actions the City should take to fulfill the mandate of that resolution and prioritize gun safety in Kirkland. Everyone has an opportunity to attend and speak at the upcoming City of Kirkland Town Hall scheduled for June 20th, 5:30pm at the Lake Washington Highschool Theater. We need a strong showing of people demonstrating that gun safety and reducing gun violence is important to us. Please see information at link for more information and to prepare yourself for this important meeting.

As we have done in the years past, once again we will be joining Fostering Interfaith Relationships on the Eastside (FIRE), a non-profit group that works to build trust and understanding among faith communities, to walk with them in the 2018 Kirkland 4th of July Parade. The theme of the parade is “United We Stand”. Please see information at link for more information. Those interested in participating in the parade please plan to convene at the IMAN Center at 10:00 AM on July 4th, 2018.

Troy Reicherter of the Seattle Peace Project invites all interested to a potluck at 2:00 PM on June 30 in Kirkland. For more details, see link.
