Programs for the last week of Ramadhan and Eid ul Fitr

In the name of Allah , the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

As salaamu alaikum

With the grace of Allah SWT we are now in the last week of the blessed month of Ramadhan 1440 AH. The last nights of Ramadhan are always very special!

1440 AH Ramadhan Qur’an Conference

Later this week we have the IMAN 1440 AH Ramadhan Qur’an Conference that will span over two days:  Saturday June 1st, 2019 and Sunday June 2nd, 2019 starting promptly at 5:30 PM on each day. More than 40 children and youth have registered to participate.   We look forward to a good turnout as we collectively encourage our children and witness their progress with the Qur’an. All those who have registered are requested to show-up punctually at 5:30 PM to avoid disappointment of not being able to participate due to late arrival.

Recognition ceremonies for Qur’an Conference  participants as well as children who have achieved their fasting goals will take place on the night of Eid expected to fall on Tuesday June 4th, 2019.

Zakat al-Fitrah for 2019

With the blessings of Allah (swt) we have been given the opportunity again this year to complete the Holy month of Ramadhan. With this completion we need to help the impoverished and give charity for the happiness of our Creator. Therefore, we should remember that there are people in need and require our help to make it through the year. Zakat al-Fitrah is a special form of obligatory Zakat given at the end of the month of Ramadhan, during the day of Eid.

The estimated minimum value of Zakat al-Fitrah, for 2019 is $10.00 per eligible person (equivalent to 6.6 pounds of a popular food such as rice or wheat (per person).  This sum must be paid on a person’s behalf as well as on behalf of all those who are his dependents. This would also include any guests who are staying overnight during the eve of Eid al-Fitr, under the care of the person. A family of 4, for example, who also has 2 guests staying overnight during the eve of Eid al-Fitr would pay 6 times the Zakat, for a total of $60.00, to account for each family member and guest.

The Zakat may be paid directly to the poor or to IMAN and we will endeavor to deliver to those in need in our midst on your behalf . If you know anyone deserving in need of Zakat al Fitrah that IMAN should contact, please let us know the details via e-mail to imansocialservices@yahoogroups.com or contact Br. Gulam Juma.

Speaker Bios:

Br. Ali Sherrif  is a long term active member of IMAN and Program Manager  in the Microsoft Azure Networking team. In January of 2017 Ali joined the 20/20 Lifestyles Program at the Pro Club in Bellevue. Over the course of 9 months, while in the program, Ali lost ~ 70 lbs. Br. Ali will provide an overview of the program and the key lessons and strategies learnt from the program which have allowed him to keep the weight off and to lose an additional ~30 lbs.

Sr. Asiya Khaki  views herself a student of life who’s life mission is to help others live longer and healthier lives.  Through her own personal life journey, she experienced suffering and pain and used what she experienced as an opportunity to grown and learn about the vast field of health.  In her effort to heal chronic skin conditions and inflammation, she began understanding what a balance of good nutrition and movement does for the body.  Her curiosity about the mind body connection led her to visit India on three different occasions and study yoga at the Ayur Yoga Eco Ashram, where she received her 200 hour yoga teacher certification.  As a yoga practitioner, she inspires her students through asana, or yoga posture, practice to go beyond the physical body and reprogram the subconscious mind.
