  • First day of school was on September 30th, 2019
  • New class for 13+ youth classes will be piloted this year.
  • “Bonds of Kinship” classes will be scheduled over 5 weeks. All parents are required to sign up.
  • New Qur’an class syllabus will be implemented this year. Student will be evaluated and placed accordingly.

Social Services

Rent and grocery assistance was provided in September 2019 to several families referred to us from Salaam Center (3) and Al Mahdi Center (4) as well as approaching IMAN directly (3).  It is encouraging to see leadership from these centers stepping up to assist those in need in partnership with IMAN.

IMAN is also exploring collaboration with MAPS_MCRC and Attain Housing as we strive to learn from and partner with these organizations.  One way to learn to improve our policies and processes is to seek volunteers who can work with Attain Housing.  Real time experience through volunteering with Attain Housing with specific instances will make our  learning dynamic.  Please contact Br. Gulam Juma and/or send e-mail to imansocialservices@yahoogroups.com if you are interested in helping.

Please note that IMAN does not accept donation items (clothing, food, household items) for Social Services unless the committee specifically asked for them or coordinated the pick-up with the donors.

There are several other local organizations that will gladly accept such donations on regular basis, including: https://worldreliefseattle.org/donate-goods

Community Dinners

The community dinners in collaboration with St. John’s Episcopal Church continue to be held last Saturday of every month.  On September 28, 2019, Community dinner took the form of Community Outreach Picnic at Juanita Beach park with good particiaption from severl Christian and Jewish faith organizations.

We continue to look for 6-8 dedicated IMAN volunteers to volunteer on a regular and committed basis.  Around this core group we can proceed with our plan to offer an additional, IMAN led, 2nd Saturday of the month dinner at St. Johns.  Those who would like to get started and then commit their time on a regular basis should contact Abbas Kazmi.

MAPS MCRC Thanksgiving Dinner

Everyone at IMAN is invited to attend the Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday November 26th as Ambassadors of Hope. Each year MAPS-MCRC hosts a Thanksgiving Eve Dinner at MAPS for inadequately housed on the Eastside. This annual event brings several faith organizations to host this event. This year MAPS plans to expand this event to increase awareness of the issue of homelessness and their partnership with The Sophia Way as well as the transitional housing units operated by MAPS. This is an opportunity to gather with others who share concern for those facing poverty and homelessness in our community.
