I.M.A.N Condemns Killings in Orlando

In the name of God, the all Compassionate, the all Merciful

Ithna-asheri Muslim Association of the Northwest (IMAN) unequivocally condemns the horrific mass killings in Orlando, taking the lives of 50 and injuring many more.  Especially during this month of Ramadan, a time of deep spirituality, compassion, self-control, and generosity, we are horrified by this action.

No words can do justice, to the pain and anguish of all caring human beings of our Nation.   Our thoughts, prayers and heartfelt condolences are with the families of those who were mercilessly slain or injured during this devastating event.

As proud Americans, we reiterate our commitment to peace, safety, and security of our nation, as well as our solidarity with fellow Americans.   An assault on the rights on any minority group, including the LGBT group, is an assault on the rights of any other minority group, including Muslims. LGBT groups have been at the forefront of fighting bigotry and intolerance and have long stood with the Muslim community in opposing discrimination and prejudice.

Together, we must send a clear message to those who kill our fellow citizens that such horrific acts are totally unacceptable.  When human civilization adopts praiseworthy traits in their conduct such as truthfulness, honesty, consciousness, benevolence, and sense of justice it benefits all. Similarly, humans descend to their worst when, injustice, and intolerance become the misguiding principles.

We stand united “one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”.
