Other ways you can help

Project Status
As of 9/1/2008, all of upper level is
approximately 96% complete, pending some touch-up work and
approval of punch list by IMAN and DLR. Representatives from the
facilities committee have been through training for the AV
system and HVAC system. The main outstanding item to be
completed for upper level is the prayer hall carpet, which is
due to arrive this week. The ornamental columns in the prayer
hall are nearly complete, pending touch up work and paint. The
lower level (mostly school classrooms and library) is within one
week of completion. On Thursday morning we discovered an issue
with clogged existing plumbing in the kitchenette that was
investigated and the root cause was determined. SD Deacon is
working hard to fix the issue this week. We have received Final
Certificate of Occupancy from City of Kirkland for upper and
lower levels. It is planned for the upper level to be turned
over to IMAN by late Friday 9/5/08.
During early stages of the construction we discovered that the
building foundation had settled along the east side. We had to
bring specialists to assess the situation and come up with a
solution. The foundation was successfully lifted and proper
drainage was added at the footing.
Due to the foundation settling and other unanticipated changes
including replacement of doors and windows, installation of
subfloor sheeting, and hazardous substance removal, our
remodeling cost has increased by $200,000, hence the new target
as indicated in the thermometer above.
