Crescent Moon Jumādá al-ūlá 1442 AH


We have received confirmed reports of the crescent moon being sighted on the evening of December 15th, 2020 in Orlando, Florida.


Therefore, Wednesday December 16th, 2020 was the first day of the month of Jumādá al-ūlá 1442 AH.


We ask Allah, the Most High, for success in performing good deeds and hasten the Return of Our Master, Imam Mahdi (AJTF).


Important Islamic Events this Month:


Jumādá al-ūlá Dec/Jan Occasion

5 Dec 20 Wiladat of Sayyida Zaynab bint Ali (p), 5. A.H.


Daily and Friday congregational prayers remain suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic.


Weekly Thursday programs and all commemorations and celebrations take place online.


Wiladats and wafats are observed on the Thursday closest to the actual date and conducted online in a virtual setting. Please refer to http://iman-wa.org for detail schedule of the Thursday program.

IMAN Annual report for 2019/2020 reviewed and approved at the AGM will be published on the IMAN Web site at this link after Board of Director approval on or before December 31, 2020.


Sunday School 2020/2021

IMAN Sunday School is now in its twelfth week and progressing well.


School Committee is learning from and coordinating with MCE (Madrasah Center of Excellence) to implement the new Tarbiyah Digital Platform.


Much appreciation and gratitude to Sr. Wasfee Vazir and Sr. Nigar Rizvi for organizing a successful virtual Art class on November 29th, 2020.


For the 2020 Holiday season, a virtual book drive has been organized to benefit the International Rescue Committee of Seattle (IRC) Youth & Children programs. Usborne Children's Books can be purchased via this link. All purchases benefit IRC as well as help raise funds for IMAN Sunday School. For questions about ordering please email Sister Wasfee Vazir at wasfee.vazir@gmail.com


There will be no Sunday School classes on December 27th, 2020 and January 3, 2021 during Winter break.


Supporting those in need

With generous support from the IMAN community, $1,350 in grocery gift cards were provided to residents of Providence John Gabriel House. Wonderful to see IMAN Youth in action crafting a personal message to accompany each card and delivering the cards.


A winter season food drive has been organized in partnership with St. John’s Episcopal Church. All donations will go to Renewal Food Bank in Bellevue. Food items can be dropped off at St. John’s Episcopal Church (105 State St, Kirkland, WA 98033) up until January 2nd, 2021. There will be a collection bin on the side of the church that is adjacent to State Street. See photo below.


The Food Bank has asked for non-perishable foods. See further details below for specific items requested:

● Canned tomatoes

● Tomato and pasta sauce

● Pastas

● Soup

● Baking mixes

● Rice or noodle-roni

● Granola bars


We hope that you will choose to donate as it will truly make a difference for many individuals in our community!
