Getting ready for a new normal – the COVID Vaccine, Reopening and Beyond.

Join us for a conversation with Becky Reitzes, Program Manager for Public Health–Seattle & King County's COVID-19 Speakers' Bureau, to learn about COVID Community Mitigation Response and how we can prepare ourselves to a new normal. Becky has been working for PHSKC for 20 years and has been working on the COVID Response since the beginning of the pandemic. Becky provides education, resources and support for organizations, communities and businesses to effectively prevent the spread of COVID-19. Becky will meet with us to discuss some important moments from the past year and answer common questions about the about the COVID-19 Vaccine.

On 21 January 2020, the United States confirmed its first case of COVID right here in Washington State. Even before Public Health Seattle & King County set up an emergency action center to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak in late January, King County was preparing for the current pandemic. In the weeks since, King County took unprecedented actions impacting every line of business throughout County government and continue to mobilize a regional response to fight this disease.

The COVID-19 vaccine is a major breakthrough in the COVID pandemic and one of the critical components in ending this pandemic. King County is the first County in the Country to vaccinate 70% of our residents (who are eligible for the vaccine). With new variants and many residents still unvaccinated, Public Health Seattle & King County is remaining diligent in our efforts prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. Together, we can continue to move forward and safely reopen our homes, communities, and economy.
