About The Event

Ramadan program for youth ages 10-15 will be held in the upstairs back room on Fridays and Saturdays for the first 3 weeks of this Holy Month. 

Moderators: sr. Somaye, sr. Zoha, sr. Sheyma, sr. Mahdie

Virtual guest speaker: Br. Hameed Reza

Time: 7 pm - Namaz time

Topics: توحید ( oneness of Allah), عباده (worship), عدل (divine justice)

Description of the activity:

Youth are invited to research Quranic verses on certain topics and come prepared to ask questions and discuss issues related to that week's topic. Each participant is recommended to have found and pondered on at least 2 verses related to the topic of discussion. 

The sessions will begin with a 15 minute virtual lecture by our guest speaker. This will be followed by a discussion session where youth will be active participants.  

April 8,9

Topic: توحید (oneness of Allah)

Tasks for youth to complete before attending the session: find at least 2 verses in the Quran on the topic of توحید. You may use tafseer al-mizan to further your understanding of those verses.

Think about and research these issues, come prepared to discuss: 

1. How to logically prove that there is only one God?

2. What are some common counter arguments from those who do not believe in existence of one God? How can we address those arguments?

3. What does توحید mean from an Islamic point of view? 

4. How does توحید manifest in one's attitude and actions? 

April 15,16

Topic: عباده ( worship)

Tasks for youth to complete before attending the session: find at least 2 verses in the Quran on the topic of عباده. You may use tafseer al-mizan to further your understanding of those verses.

Think about and research these issues, come prepared to discuss: 

1. What does عباده mean?

2. What is the relationship between عبد and رب ?

3. What are some forms of عباده in Islam?

4. What is the relationship between تفکر/تعقل (thinking) and عباده ? 

April 22,23

Topic: عدل ( divine justice)

Tasks for youth to complete before attending the session: find at least 2 verses in the Quran on the topic of عدل. You may use tafseer al-mizan to further your understanding of those verses.

Think about and research these issues, come prepared to discuss: 

1. What does عدل (justice) mean? 

2. If Allah is just, why is there pain and suffering in the world?

2. Why does Allah punish or reward?

3. What is the relationship between Allah's mercy and justice ( رحمه و عدل)?
