A Call to Gratitude — and a Call to Gather
As the nation gathers around tables for Thanksgiving, we as Muslims are presented with a unique and precious opportunity. While this holiday is often associated with turkey, travel, and tradition, it also opens a window for deep spiritual reflection.
It invites us to remember Shukr — the gratitude that animates our faith and humbles our hearts before the One who sustains us.
It invites us to honor Memory — the stories that rarely make it into America’s mainstream narratives: the presence of Muslim explorers, enslaved African Muslims, immigrant laborers, scholars, activists, and families whose resilience and dignity helped build this nation.
And it invites us to embrace the American Muslim Experience — a living story of perseverance, contribution, and moral striving that continues to shape our communities and our country.
Seen through this lens, Thanksgiving becomes more than a holiday; it becomes a call — a call to gratitude, a call to justice, a call to belonging.
At IMAN, we believe one of the most powerful expressions of that gratitude and belonging is the gathering of hearts for daily congregational prayer. Prayer in jamaʿah is not simply a ritual; it is a statement of who we are. It is the spiritual architecture that holds our community together. It is where we remember Allah collectively, support one another, and cultivate the unity that our faith commands and our times require.
As we reflect on gratitude and memory this week, we warmly invite you to join us, stand with us, and help strengthen our daily congregational prayers at IMAN. Your presence matters. Your footsteps to the masjid are witnessed. Your participation builds a legacy your children and grandchildren will inherit.
And as we strive together to improve our routines and uplift our community — in the coming days, weeks, months, and years — may we aspire to the station of our beloved Imam, and may we one day be able to say, even in one small dimension of our spiritual lives:
فُزْتُ بِرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ
“By the Lord of the Kaʿbah, I have succeeded.”
May our gratitude lead to action, our remembrance lead to unity, and our unity lead us all closer to Allah.
Here is our prayer attendance chart for last month.

Preparing the blood supply is a winter priority

The anticipation of snow leaves us with one thought: are we prepared to meet local blood needs?
Winter storms can quickly deplete our blood supply.
Through any weather, patients in our community depend on transfusions to survive cancer, traumas, and bleeding disorders.
You can help our community be ready for whatever the weather brings by making an appointment today to donate blood at the IMAN Center on Friday, December 12.

Community Dinners
IMAN hosts with St. John’s hosts monthly community dinners every last Saturday of the month. Those interested to help organize monthly community dinners, please contact Br. Abbas Kazmi or send mail to socialservices@iman-wa.org.

Sr. Sidra Naqvi has reserved spots to provide meals to the needy at homeless shelters. If you are interested in helping, please contact Sister Sidra Naqvi (425) 273 1463 or e-mail iman@iman-wa.org.
