Crescent Moon Rabīʿ al-Akhir 1443 AH

There were no verified sightings of the crescent moon by the naked eye at sunset on Friday, November 5th, 2021, in any region of North America that shares the Moon sighting horizon with the Greater Seattle area.


Therefore, Saturday November 6th, 2021 was the last day of the month of Rabi' al-Awwal, 1443 A.H.


Sunday, November 7th, 2021 coincided with the first day of the month of Rabi' al-Akhir, 1443 A.H.


We ask God, the Most High, for success in performing good deeds and to hasten the Return of Our Master, Imam Mahdi (p) as we also pray to God, the Most Merciful, to bring a swift end to the current pandemic and grant a quick recovery to all those afflicted.

10 Nov 16 Wafat of Lady Fatimah bint Musa (Masooma Qom),

sister of Imam al-Ridha (p), (Year 201 A.H.)


Daily Dhur and Maghreb and Friday congregational prayers are being held in person at the IMAN Center. Congregational Prayer Timings are published on the IMAN home page.


Weekly Dua Kumail program also takes place in person at the IMAN Center at 8:00 PM each Thursday. Wiladats and wafats are observed on the Thursday closest to the actual date and conducted online in a virtual setting. Please refer to http://iman-wa.org for schedule details of the Thursday program.


Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The 2021 IMAN Annual General Meeting (AGM) has been scheduled for Saturday December 4th, 2021 at 5:00 PM at the IMAN Center in Kirkland.


Agenda:

  • Review and Approval of 2020 AGM minutes

  • Matters arising from 2020 AGM minutes

  • Review of 2021 Annual Report of Activities, and recommendations for 2022

  • Review of 2020/2021 Finances, and budget for 2022

  • Nomination of the Executive Committee for 2022

  • Any other business


Members will have received AGM notice by e-mail.


Those who are not members are also welcome to attend as observers.


Moss Bay Neighborhood Plan Update

In 2021, City of Kirkland Planning Department staff in coordination with the community and businesses in the Moss Bay Neighborhood(PDF, 2MB) is updating the existing Moss Bay Neighborhood Plan chapter in the Kirkland Comprehensive Plan. IMAN Center is in the Moss Bay Neighborhood.


Your input on the proposed amendments is invited and encouraged. Please attend the upcoming meetings or provide your written comments. Sunday School 2021/2022

IMAN Sunday School is in its 7th week and progressing well with 54 students registered and attending online using Zoom. Teachers and students are using the Tarbiyah Digital Platform. All the Tarbiyah Books are online.


Two teachers completed training Teacher Skills Program (TSP) in August 2021.


First meeting with parents was conducted online on November 7, 2021 with 28 people participating.


Thanks to IMAN Youth Club, 2020 Sunday School Yearbook is now available for purchase. Purchase price will be just to cover the cost to produce the year book.


Afghan Refugee Support

We thank all those who have donated generously to our Afghan Refugee assistance appeal.


Thousands of Afghans have been evacuated and are gradually making their way to different parts of the country including here in King County.


In order to help the new incoming Afghan brothers and sisters, a small team of volunteers has been formed to support those who reach out to IMAN for resettlement assistance. This team will process in coming cases, spend time to assist with resettlement and connect new arrivals to other support groups as necessary. For questions or support please contact the following volunteers in regards to the Afghan refugee resettlement.

Community Dinners

During these times, it is increasingly difficult for many to have basic needs met, and the monthly dinners IMAN hosts with St. John’s are our chance to contribute in serving these individuals.


Approximately 150 “to-go” dinners were served at the IMAN Center on Saturday October 30th, 2021. We express deepest gratitude to all that helped out

Supporting those in need

On behalf of the IMAN community, a donation of $5,000.00 donation has been made to White Center Food Bank towards purchase of halal turkeys that will be distributed to needy families in White Center, West Seattle and Burien for thanksgiving.
