With deep sorrow and profound sadness, we share the passing of Mir Mohammed Hashim Shoa, beloved husband of Sr. Najiba Shoa and devoted father of Sr. Khatera Hashimi, Sr. Faiqa Sajady, Marḥūma Shouguffa Muradi Shoa, and Br. Arien Shoa, who returned to his Lord around noon on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Marḥūm will be laid to rest on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 2:30 PM at Sunset Cedar Lawn Memorial, 7200 180th Ave NE, Redmond, WA 98052.
Marḥūm Mir Mohammed Hashim Shoa spent much of his life serving with USAID in Afghanistan, as well as teaching economics at Kabul University, and later worked as an economist and diplomat with Afghanistan’s foreign embassy. After moving to the United States in 1991, he retired. Marḥūm was widely known in the community for his kindness and generosity, always ready to help others whenever he could. He maintained a deep and sincere connection with his dīn, living a life marked by humility, service, and quiet devotion.
Marḥūm helped establish and regularly participated in the weekly Jumuʿah prayers at the IMAN Center. He also devoted himself to teaching many children how to recite the Qur’an, perform their prayers, and cultivate discipline and patience. The values he imparted will continue to guide and inspire many.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Sr. Najiba Shoa and the entire Shoa family during this time of immense loss. May Almighty Allah (SWT) envelop him in His infinite mercy, grant him eternal peace, and bestow patience and comfort upon his loved ones as they navigate this difficult time — Āmeen.
In honor of Marḥūm’s memory and as a means of offering spiritual benefit, we humbly request all Mu’minīn and Mu’mināt to recite Sūrah al-Fātiḥah and offer Ṣalāt al-Waḥshah or Ṣalāt-e-Hadiya-e-Mayyit for the Isāl al-Thawāb of his soul. Your prayers and remembrance serve not only as a tribute to his enduring legacy but also as a source of solace for his grieving family.
