With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of a dear and valued member of our IMAN community, Marḥūma Neelam Khaki, beloved wife of Br. Mehboob Ali Khaki and devoted mother of Zain, Imaan, Aamena, and Saif. She was the cherished daughter of Mehrun Champsi and the late Ramzanali Dhalla, stepdaughter of Gulam Champsi, sister of Dr. Masuma Rahim, and daughter-in-law of Naaznin Panju and the late Gulamabbas Khaki. She returned to her Lord in her sleep earlier today, Saturday, April 11, 2026. Funeral details are currently being finalized and will be shared in an update to this post as soon as they are available.
Marḥūma Neelam served the Greater Seattle community in many meaningful capacities. In addition to being a devoted spouse and mother, she served as a teacher and a regular parent volunteer at the weekly IMAN Sunday School. She was also a committed social worker who played a key role in coordinating and leading activities of the Peaceful Families Task Force with API Chaya. Through her work, she engaged Muslim communities across the Puget Sound region to raise awareness about domestic violence, support survivors, and promote prevention. Over the years, she conducted numerous “Bonds of Kinship” workshops at IMAN and other Islamic centers. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones. May Allah (SWT) envelop her in His infinite mercy, grant her eternal peace, expand her resting place, and bless her family with patience and strength — Āmīn.
In loving memory of Marḥūma Neelam Khaki, and for the elevation of her soul (Isāl al-Thawāb), we humbly request the Mo’minīn to recite Sūrat al-Fātiḥa, offer ṣadaqah, and perform Namāz-e-Waḥshat or Hadiya-e-Mayyit. Your prayers will bring comfort to the grieving family and serve as a tribute to her noble life.
