In Memory of Marḥūma Neelam Khaki
Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn — To Allah we belong and to Him we return.
Earlier this month, our community was deeply saddened by the passing of Marḥūma Neelam Khaki - a beloved wife, devoted mother, and a compassionate presence whose impact reached far beyond her immediate family.
Neelam was a pillar of strength and care within her home, a loving partner to Br. Mehboob Ali Khaki, and a nurturing mother to her children - Zain, Imaan, Aamena, and Saif. Yet, her legacy extends well beyond these roles. She was a teacher in the truest sense - someone who shaped hearts and minds not only through instruction, but through example.
Through her involvement in the IMAN Sunday School, Neelam helped guide and inspire the next generation. In her professional life as a social worker, she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to justice, dignity, and compassion. Her work with organizations such as API Chaya and her contributions to the Peaceful Families Task Force reflected both courage and conviction - engaging with difficult realities while always centering care and healing.
In our tradition, we speak of ʿamal jāriyah - ongoing charity whose benefits continue long after one has returned to their Lord. Neelam’s life is a powerful embodiment of this concept. The children she taught, the families she supported, and the awareness she helped cultivate all stand as continuing sources of الخير - goodness that endures.
What distinguished her most was the quiet sincerity with which she served. She did not seek recognition; rather, she sought to make a difference. And in doing so, she leaves behind a legacy that calls each of us to reflect:
How do we serve? How do we uplift others? How do we strengthen our families and our community?
The true measure of a life lies not only in what was accomplished, but in what it inspires in others.
As we remember Neelam, we pray that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) envelops her in His mercy, grants her a place among the righteous, and admits her into Jannat al-Firdaws. We pray for patience and strength for her family, and that her legacy continues to be a source of نور - light and guidance - for all who were touched by her life.
Al-Fātiḥa.

Daily Qur'an Study Circle and Congregational Salaat
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, our Qurʾān Study Circle continues its journey through Sūrat al-Anʿām (The Cattle), offering timely reflections that deepen our understanding and strengthen our connection with the Book of Allah. These gatherings are not merely sessions of learning—they are spaces where hearts are softened, faith is renewed, and lives are guided by divine wisdom. Community members are encouraged to benefit through active daily participation, as well as by engaging with the Qur'an Study Circle being developed and shared each day.
Allah ﷻ commands us: “Establish the prayer, give the zakāt, and bow with those who bow” (Qur’an 2:43). This powerful āyah reminds us that ṣalāh is not only an individual obligation, but a communal calling—to stand, bow, and prostrate together in unity and devotion.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught that prayer in congregation is twenty-seven times more rewarding than prayer offered alone, and he emphasized it so strongly that he warned against neglecting it without valid excuse. Our Imams (peace be upon them) further taught that the masjid is the beating heart of the believing community, and that those who frequent it are counted among the people of light and steadfast faith.
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, during the blessed month of Ramaḍān, we witnessed a beautiful rise in attendance for daily congregational prayers. Let us not allow that momentum to fade. The discipline nurtured in a month of mercy can, by Allah’s grace, become a lifelong source of barakah.
We warmly invite you to join the daily congregational prayers and to participate in our Qurʾān Study Circles. Even a few moments spent in the house of Allah can illuminate the heart, strengthen resolve, and connect us to a community striving together in His path.
Let us answer the Qur’anic call—to “bow with those who bow”—by filling our Center with remembrance, reflection, and prayer throughout the year. In doing so, we build not only a stronger community, but hearts anchored in faith, families enriched with purpose, and lives illuminated by the Qurʾān.
